Zakir Nagar boy drowned to death

A boy of Zakir Nagar in Okhla was drowned to death today, according to residents.

Amir Farid told OKHLATIMES that the boy had gone to take bath in Yamuna near Dhobi Ghat.

The victim has been identified as Faizan resident of lane number 22 of Zakir Nagar, Okhla and the incident took place at 5 pm.

The body has been taken out and brought in Zakir Nagar where large number of residents arrived.

The boy was 18 years old and had come from a city in UP to visit the locality. After coming to know about the incident residents were left shocked. Many recalled one such accident in the locality a few years ago when a young boy from Abul Fazal Enclave had drowned while swimming at Yamuna at Okhla Head.

“Such incidents only teach us lessons that we need to be extremely careful about our children where they go. The water in Yamuna is deep in that locality and most probably the boy would have not known swimming and drowned. What a shocking news for the family members who lost a young boy,” said Nasim Ur Rahman.

The boy was buried at Batla House graveyard today with local residents turning up at the graveyard.
