Zain Saeed shares his ‘bitter’ experience at mosque

Zain Saeed had gone to offer Maghrib namaz in Okhla main mosque today. He came out from the mosque deeply upset as his new shoes were stolen.

He said: “It was only a few days ago that I had bought new branded shoes for Rs 1,000 during my brother’s marriage. And it was stolen from the mosque today.

“After the incident I went to the imam and told him about my experience. The imam accessed the CCTV and it was there that the man who stole my shoes was spotted. After getting into the mosque, I went for wadu and it was, according to the footage, the man came from inside and went inside the mosque toilet, comfortably wearing my shoes.

“As I went to offer prayer, he just got out after ten minutes and made his way.”

Zain said the imam told him that the same man has stolen shoes thrice in a week and his picture was captured earlier too.

The imam told him that how another man, who had come to offer namaz lost his Rs 4,000 shoes and in that case the suspicion is towards the man.

Zain was lucky that mosque people gave him a chappal that he wore back to his home.

Stealing of shoes form mosque is nothing new in the locality with several devotees complaining about it.

A few months ago, fed up with regular stealing of inverter battery from mosque, some residents had distributed leaflets and posters in the locality of the man, who was captured committing the theft on CCTV.

Then the man was arrested from Shaheen Bagh after a few days. Residents lamented that professional gangs are operative in the locality who steal shoes from mosques during prayer time.
