Dr Jilani’s paper was on his study on the outcome of rail fixator system in the management of complex nonunion of long bones. During the Meeting in Malaysia, Dr Jilani’s paper was one of the six papers selected for the gold medal session.

His paper illustrates that complex nonunions are among the most difficult problems in orthopaedic clinical practice. The paper further throws light on how these cases are usually associated with bone gap, shortening and infection at the fracture site. Dr Jilani, in his paper proves that this complicated problem can be managed by rail fixator system with excellent outcomes.

Dr Faizan also presented two other research papers and two posters in the conference and he was also awarded for his research paper during the Meeting.

In his paper on relevance of timing of operation on infection rate in open fractures, he concluded that there was no increase in infection rates when surgery was performed up to 24 hours after injury and surgery can be delayed up to 24 hours if optimal operating environment is not available.

Meanwhile, Dr Zulfiqar, who is also associated with JNMC presented a paper on osteosynthesis in fracture neck of femur in patients between 60-75 years of age.
