The discovery of a burqa-clad woman’s body in a sack outside Noida mall on Wednesday morning has left residents shocked.
Superintendent of police Noida Dinesh Yadav said: “The body was found in a sack wrapped in cloth. The deceased was wearing a black burqa. There was an injury mark on the head. Her mouth was gagged with a piece of cloth.”
Police said the woman’s palms had “Shahida” and “Farooq” written in henna (mehndi).
“It seems like the attackers wanted to burn the body but they failed in the attempt and dumped it in Sector 18. Circumstantial evidence suggests murder. Prima facie, it seems like the woman was murdered six to seven hours before the body was discovered. We are also scanning the CCTV camera footage in the locality to get a clue about killer. We have sought details of missing women from others police stations,” the SP said.
A case of murder was registered and the body has been sent for post-mortem and reports are awaited.
