Since May when the Delhi metro began its initial trial run between Kalindi Kunj Depot and Okhla Vihar Metro station of Magenta Line/Line 8, residents have been asking one question: When is metro going operational in the locality?
Though official confirmation is yet to come, it is understood that the operation might begin from February last of March beginning. Usually it is six months after the trial run, operation begins and if one goes by that then by December end metro would have started operating.
However, trial run has been going in full swing. Many residents said they usually see metro running on the track in the morning and night. Moreover, work too on the lines is going on at great speed pointing to the fact that operation might begin soon.
With no official confirmation, OKHLATIMES.COM will keep its finger crossed until the metro begins running ending residents’ long wait and bringing in prosperity to the area and linking it to other parts of Delhi.
Earlier, the Metro had issued this statement: “The initial trial runs on a 3.5 km long stretch between Kalindi Kunj Depot and Okhla Vihar Metro station of Magenta Line/Line 8 (Janakpuri west to Botanical Garden) have started at a low speed. During these trials, the interface of the Metro train will be checked to ensure that there is no physical infringement with civil infrastructure during the movement of the train on the track and also testing of various subsystems of coaches shall be done.”
