NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed’s wife Farzana who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi after sustaining bullet injuries with her husband in Bijnore on April 3 has succumbed to her injuries, reported dailies.
It was on April 3 when Tanzil – basically from Bijnore but has been living in Okhla for the last 15 years –was attacked by two motorcycle-borne assailants after he was returning from a relatives wedding with his two children. Tanzil died on the spot and his wife was admitted to a hospital as she too had received bullet injuries in the attack. Their two children were not harmed in the attack.
Tanzil’s body was brought to Okhla where he was laid to rest in Batla House graveyard with State Honour. A large number of residents were present in his last journey with many expressing their displeasure over non-presence of senior leaders. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was present at the graveyard. After a few days, a few local leaders and MP too turned up at his house.
Since his death police have been looking for his murderers. Many people have been questioned in the case with the Uttar Pradesh Police announcing Rs 2 lakh reward on information about the prime accused in the murder of Ahmad, an official said.
