Following the confirmation that civic polls in Delhi is to be held in a few weeks time, political aspirants have started applying for tickets in different parties.
In Okhla’s AAP unit some fifteen aspirants have applied for ticket from the party, according to reliable sources.
It is understood that a meeting was held today at about 4 pm at Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan’s residents today to discuss issues with aspirants taking part.
The source said during the meeting about four people assured to withdraw their name from the fray.
AAP has claimed that the party has received overwhelming response from political aspirants who want to contest from its ticket.
“We have already received about 10,097 applications. More applications are expected as to date the volunteers meet have been held only in about 200 of 272 municipal constituencies,” a senior AAP leader involved with the screening process said.
Elections for the three municipal corporations are likely to be held in April. The State Election Commission is yet to notify the dates.
And as the days come nearer for the election it would be interesting to see whose name is shortlisted in the final list. Source said one name is doing the rounds but didn’t divulge the name.
