Jamia Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad interacted with protesting students on the campus. Sources said the VC tried to pacify the students, who have been protesting over university’s effort to float students’ council.
A student on the condition of anonymity said VC came to meet the students only when we went to submit him memorandum. It is understood that under pressure from students’ protest, the university has agreed to not go ahead with its students’ council, said sources.
However, OT.COM was not able to speak to get official version on the issue.
Moreover, a student who was an eyewitness to the event said we won in getting one of our demands but failed to convince the authority about holding union election that has been banned on the campus since 2006.
