Batla House-based eminent Urdu journalist Anees Jamaie dies; son Moonis remembers him

Anees Jamaie was resident of Batla House and an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia. His death due to protracted illness a few days ago was mourned by residents and media fraternity. Former head of the United News of India, Anees Jamaie was suffering from kidney ailment. The prayer was led by Maulana Syed Ahmad Bukhari of the Jama Masjid.

jamaeideath“I have not only lost a father, but a guide, a friend. A person who was always ready to help others and he was honest. He was always into social service. I will miss him badly for the rest of my life. He was a dynamic personality. A very few journalists were able to reach the position that he had. People in old Delhi and Urdu circle knew him well. I have still not come to terms …I still think that he is alive…may Allah grant him jannah…aameen,” Moonis Rehman told OKHLATIMES.COM.

He is survived by two sons, including Moonis, a digital media expert, and a daughter and the family has been residing in Batla House for years.

It was in 1992 when he had joined UNI Urdu service and since then never looked behind. It was in 2013 that he retired as its Head. After retirement he plunged himself into social service.
