Trial run on Metro’s Okhla stretch begins

Trial run on Metro’s Okhla stretch begins. The Delhi Metro on Saturday flagged off the trial run on Jasola-Shaheen Bagh stretch in Okhla, according to eyewitnesses. A few residents even grabbed photo of the trial run and shared it on social media soliciting several likes and comments.

Congress youth leader Pervez Alam Khan wrote this on his timeline: “Today trial started by metro on our Okhla stretch. I would like to thanks Sandeep Dikshit who was pioneer for this project and he is a man of his words who promised for metro in 2009 election…Thank you Sandeep… for giving us such a wonderful gift and we miss you a lot.”

It is understood that the trial run was held between 10 and 10:30 am. When the metro line was announced in Okhla, several local leaders and NGOs had come forward claiming that it was because of their initiative. Asif Md. Khan was then MLA of Okhla and many of his supporters claimed that it was because of his hard work that the metro project came to Jamia Nagar, a deprived locality.
