The news of falling of under-construction sports-complex in Mayoor School Sector 126 brought tension to several parents in Okhla who wards study there. However, parents heaved a sigh of relief as the unfortunate incident in which one worker died and 13 others got injured took place after on Friday noon when the students had left for their homes.
“The workers were busy in roof casting when suddenly the shade collapsed. The police officials immediately reached at the spot and rushed victims to hospitals where one died. We are investigating the matter. We will take action against accused persons and school management after investigation,” SSP Love Kumar reported TOI.
A senior official of school said that the management had outsourced the construction work of the indoor stadium to a private firm.
“The contractor was developing the indoor stadium. We have no idea how the incident took place,” said a senior official of school, reported the daily.
The contractor is absconding since the incident.
It has been reported that 14 injured workers were admitted in Jaypee Hospital Sector 128 and Kailash Hospital Sector 27. A magisterial probe into the matter has been ordered by district magistrate B N Singh whose report is to be submitted in a month time.
