Okhla’s building tilting case: SDMC takes this latest step

The incident of a tilting multi-storey building in Jasola that was demolished a few days ago with the structure being brought down on the side of a nullah is to be looked into after South Delhi Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat announced on Tuesday setting up a panel.

Leader of the House in SDMC Shika Rai is to head the committee formed by the mayor. The body came into existence after a detailed discussion between the mayor and Municipal Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel.

This has been confirmed by the civic body.

The building was demolished after it had “tilted dangerously”, authorities said. The mayor said families were evacuated after which it was brought down yesterday, reported PTI.

“The committee has been asked to submit its report within five days and also to assess the responsibility in this case. In case someone is found to be involved in this case or is found to be lenient, strict action will be taken against that person,” the SDMC said in a statement.

The move had led to overflowing of water in the area as the building material had gone in the nallah. The incident of building coming down was caught on mobile with it being shared on the social media too.
