This is a story of a man in Okhla whose business got bust. And as his financial conditions deteriorated over months, he allegedly took loans from acquaintances to survive, claimed reports. To bring up his family, Mahesh Chauhan, a resident of Okhla Phase 2 area, used to run a sweet shop.
He was looking for a job but he could not get one and it was after all this that on Friday he committed the crime, claimed a report.
PTI reported that the 50-year-old man first allegedly killed his wife, a 5-year-old daughter before committing suicide. A Hindustan Times report pointed out that suspecting his wife of having an affair, he allegedly killed her.
Police came to know about the incident around 10:45 am. After reaching the spot police rushed the persons, identified as Mahesh Chauhan, his wife Lakshmi (34) and Lado (5), were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
During the probe it came to the light that Lakshmi was second wife of Mahesh and the child was from the first marriage. The investigations are on to ascertain how the killings took place. Some reports pointed out that Mahesh administered poison to his wife and strangle his sleeping daughter. Later on he too took poison. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Additional DCP (south east) Rajeev Ranjan said it is suspected that the man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. However, no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
