The Delhi Cabinet, in its meeting on Tuesday chaired by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took the following decisions : Rs one crore compensation for the family of school teacher, late Mukesh Kumar.
The cabinet approved Rs one crore compensation for the family of late Mukesh Kumar, a Hindi teacher at the SP Road Government School, Nangloi, who was fatally stabbed by two Class 12 students in front of their classmates on Monday.
The decision was announced by the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. It has been reported that the accused students had been rusticated for low attendance but managed to enter the school and stabbed teacher Mukesh Kumar when he came out of a classroom. He was rushed to the hospital but died later in the night.
“This is a very tragic episode and the government views it very seriously,” Sisodia said. “The Delhi Cabinet decided to pay Rs one crore to Mukesh Kumar’s family and will support the family in all ways possible. The government has also ordered a thorough enquiry into the murder to establish any lapse of the school authorities or at the hospital.”
Sisodia appealed to parents to talk to their children and make them understand that teachers are well-intentioned. He said it was important for the government as well as parents to restore the morale of the teachers who are shaken after this incident. He said the safety concerns of teachers need to be addressed by all.
