Cases of stealing of car battery on ‘rise’; latest victim is Shaheen Bagh-based journalist

A Shaheen Bagh resident has tweeted about the stealing of battery from his car. In a message in Hindi, Munne Bharti urf Atharuddin, who works with NDTV, also shared a photo of his car and number DL3CAY 6420.

Residents said this is not the first incident in the locality. Cases of robbery have gone up in the locality in the last few months with robbers ruling the roost. Residents lamented how robbers are targeting shops and flats in daylight particularly during Friday prayer when most male members are in the mosque.

A few weeks ago it was reported that how several shops were targeted on a day in Shaheen Bagh. Moreover, some residents still remember that how year ago, several shops were targeted on one night from Abul Fazal Enclave and Shaheen Bagh. Recently, a few youths from Jamia Nagar were also apprehended for committing robberies in NFC and other places.

A resident said on the condition of anonymity that how a few weeks ago, a medical dispensary was targeted in the locality. Many residents said robbers move around in group and keep an eye on areas or houses they want to target. In several recent cases, robbers have targeted batteries of car.

A few weeks ago a man was arrested from Shaheen Bagh for stealing inverter battery from mosques.
