Jamia students visit Sonia Vihar after coming to know about demolished mosque; they share their experience.
Last night I heard about a Mosque being demolished in outskirts of Delhi in area known as Sonia Vihar, writes Aqdas Sami.
But there was negligible media coverage on the issue. Therefore I decided to go over there and to have first hand information.
I called my brother and fellow activist in Jamia Naqi. We both took a long journey to reach there. It is located in very interior area of Delhi. Further it was difficult to find the mosque site. The locals were also reluctant in guiding us. They were looking towards us with certain amount of suspicion.
When we reached in the street of mosque then also some people tried to misguide us.
As we knew that 25 families in the area tried to construct a mosque after a generous person donated small plot of land.
Only a few days passed and the prayers were going smoothly but on Wednesday a mob suddenly destroyed the under constructed mosque.
When we reached at the site of mosque there were a few policeman.
It is shameful how easily mob has been doing whatever it feels like.
The situation is looking of a kind of lawlessness. People are being lynched and mobs are doing all kind of vandalisation.
I came back with Naqi to my residence in the evening but I am a worried man and I am really pained at seeing all this happening around.
