As political parties in Delhi continue to exchange words over the murder of NDMC official MM Khan in Johri Farm on May 16, a new development has sparked another debate on the social media. ANI reported that Iqra Khan, daughter of slain NDMC official has written to CP requesting that the SHO probing her father’s case earlier should be reinstated on the case.
Khan was murdered a few meters from his house in Johri Farm by bike-borne unidentified men over allegedly refusing to accept bribes from city hotelier. The case was cracked in 24 hours with police arresting five others, including local youths, in the murder case.
In a letter to Delhi’s top cop, Verma, Iqra said wrote in a letter: “The same SHO (Mangesh Tyagi), along with the investigation officer, had been doing quite well. I have communicated with Special Commissioner of Police P Kamraj and DCP M S Randhawa regarding the same.
“I request you let SHO Mangesh Tyagi handle my father’s case, cancel his transfer and reinstate him on the case.” Tyagi was transferred to the South District on June 9, as part of a routine transfer process, along with 45 other inspectors, said sources in Delhi Police, reported The Indian Express.
Police have already assured Iqra that the investigation into Khan’s murder would be completely fair and impartial, said Special Commissioner of Police (crime) Taj Hassan.
On Tyagi’s transfer, Hassan told The Indian Express: “It was a routine transfer as some departmental enquiry was pending against him in another matter… it was not related to this case. The current investigation officer is pursuing the case and it is being properly monitored by senior officers.”
