On Eid al-Adha everything gets expensive in Muslim dominated area, according to some Okhla residents. A stay-at-home mother told OKHLATIMES that how shopkeepers are charging extra Rs 2 on Mother Dairy one litre packet which is against the government ruling of charging more than the MRP (maximum retail price).
In Jamia Nagar, several shops are not keeping milk due to Eid as Muslims vendors are on leave and a few who are keeping are forcing customers to pay more, which is really shocking, said another resident. “I got the milk from another shop in AFE. And the shopkeeper charged Rs 2 extra. When asked the reason, he said there is crisis and we got it from far away areas. As I had no other option I paid it,” said another resident on the condition of anonymity.
Many residents complained that even during normal days, shopkeepers don’t return the change and charge extra. “In my locality, there are several shops and all of them, save two, charge more than the MRP even on normal days. Shockingly, when you argue with them they will rudely answer at times even snatching the milk from you. Their argument is that they charge extra as they put the milk in fridge,” said another resident, who regularly buys packed Mother Dairy milk.
