Jamia Nagar is in bad shape with roads broken and waterlogging in many parts of the locality is a normal thing even during winter when there is no rainwater.
“It is a pathetic state of affair in the locality. Just walk through Jamia Nagar from Okhla Head to Batla House and you will come to know there is development taking place. What is worry is that besides representatives even political aspirants are doing little to improve the locality. As elections come near, many political aspirants are spending huge sum on posters in the locality and everybody is crying his or her lungs out that s/he is the real leader. Whereas the fact is that if you ask these prospective leaders what they did for the locality, they have no answer to impress voters,” said an Okhla watcher on the condition of anonymity.
With voting usually taking place on region, caste and posterbazi, development work is not an issue in the locality. And that is why the locality continues to be in bad shape with prospective leaders are making tall claims on the social media and through posters with nobody willing to do ground work.
There are many places in the locality where water is logged throughout the year. Moreover, roads are in bad shaped that commuting is not an easy job.
