2 including Shahzada hurt in knife attack by pickpocket not very far from Okhla

For long the incident of pickpocket incidents have been talked about.

Many a time residents have lamented of pickpocket incidents taking place on gramin seva and e-rickshaw in Okhla. An incident has surfaced of a pickpocket attacking two people Mohd Shahzada and Ram Kumar on a DTC bus not very far from Okhla.

The incident unfolded like this: pickpocket attacked the two men when they were trying to hand him over to police near Sarai Kale Khan and then fled from the spot, said police on Sunday. The accused has been arrested.

The incident had taken place a few days ago on January 17. Police said it was Mohd Shahzada, who found a man trying to steal his mobile phone from his pocket while he was travelling in a DTC bus. With the help of another passenger Ram Kumar, he was successful in foiling the pickpocket attempt. After getting hold of the accused identified as Mohd Fahim, they decided to hand him over to police, said the officer as reported by PTI.

Following their decisions, the two men got down of the bus and as they were taking him to the police station, Fahim attacked them with a knife and fled. Following the attack the two were injured and rushed to AIIMS for treatment, said the officer.

A team was formed to track the accused and he was arrested from northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri area said Romil Baaniya, DCP (Southeast).
