1 hurt in Shaheen Bagh as robbers open fire; 1 held

A person was hurt in an alleged shootout during a robbery in Shaheen Bagh today a few hours ago, according to residents.

One of the robbers was caught by residents while trying to flee, said a resident, adding that he was handed over to police and the two men fled from the spot by allegedly firing in which one person was allegedly injured. He was rushed to a local hospital, said the resident.

It was about 2:30 pm when some residents realised that something was wrong going on the 3 rd floor of a house in Shaheen Bagh. When they rushed there they saw three robbers inside, said a resident, adding that then the three tried to flee from the spot with one being caught.

Official confirmation is yet to come by.

However, police officials turned up on the spot and also photos were taken. Till the filing of the report, a resident said, police were on the spot.

The incident has left residents shocked. Many lamented that this is not the first incident in the locality. Of late several cases of robbery have taken place and it was only a few months ago when several shops were targeted in Shaheen Bagh.

Moreover, residents also complain of increase in criminal activities in the locality.
