Shaheen Bagh residents cry for attention (video).

Some residents of Shaheeb Bagh area deeply upset with the turn of event in their lane. They lamented that it is not only during rain that their street is flooded with water as even during normal days there is waterlogging.

A local Congress leader Md Ansar said they have written to top politicians to get things address but till now there has been no success. “For the last one year the situation of waterlogging has not improved in the locality. Residents are deeply worried as the season of mosquito breeding too has begun. We read daily how malaria cases are rising in the locality. Many are living in fear. Residents are facing hardship,” said Md Ansar.

Residents lamented that there is a flood like situation and nobody is bothered. The situation is like this for days, said a resident, adding that something needs to be done.

Another resident said a letter too has been sent to Delhi Chief Minister for getting things addressed.

Though waterlogging issue is a common thing in Jamia Nagar, a deprived locality lacking basic amenities, Shaheen Bagh appears to be worst hit with some lanes in the locality facing flood like situation for months.

With no election close by, many residents fear that the situation would remain like this.

Moreover, those self-proclaimed leaders who had contested during MCD poll too have vanished and have failed to raise the issue at least on the social media as they used to do during the poll time.
