Residents gather in large number in Shaheen Bagh: Do you know the reason?

Residents gather in large number in Shaheen Bagh. Do you know the reason? Shaheen Bagh resident Afzal Ansari shared a photo showing large number of people gathered in the area. While sharing this photo, he appreciated work taken by newly-elected councillor Wajid Khan of Abul Fazal Enclave in removing illegal market occupying the road under the high tension wire in Shaheen Bagh on Monday.

Appreciating the move, several residents now want the authorities to act against mushrooming illegal workshops on roadside on Abul Fazal Enclave-Shaheen Bagh road. Residents for years have been lamenting on how illegal workshops have mushroomed on roadsides encroaching the road and narrowing it further.

Residents still remember how years ago, some activists had launched a campaign on their own to remove illegal shops on Abul Fazal Enclave-Kalindi Kunj road despite facing stiff resistance with some activists even being thrashed. Then after pressure the activists had to give up their campaign.

A resident requesting anonymity said the move is in the right direction but it should not end there as there are several spots in Jamia Nagar that are illegally occupied by workshops, parked car, eateries and other shops and they too should be removed to make road broaden.
