Shaheen Bagh residents face morning blues

Residents in Delhi, including Okhla, woke up to cold weather. However, many in Shaheen Bagh had to face morning blues other than cold. Early morning words spread in the locality that a few shops in Shaheen Bagh were burgled, writes Maqsood Alam, a Congress member.

Residents were shocked to see several shutters broken as it appears that efforts were made to break into. Shops located on Sarita Vihar road with company outlets were burgled. It is yet not clear about the loss incurred by shopkeepers. Some residents said several shops were targeted in one night. Following the incident, some residents have called a meeting at 6 pm to discuss deteriorating law and order situation in the locality.

This is not first incident of robbery in the area. Many residents still remember that how a months ago several shops in Abul Fazal Enclave, Zakir Nagar and Shaheen Bagh were targeted at night with robbers landing in the locality with four-wheeler vehicles. Moreover, residents have been complaining about increase in robbery cases in the locality. A few weeks ago, a Zakir Nagar resident had pointed out that how robbers are targeting shops during Friday prayer.

More details over the issue are expected to follow soon.
