On Shab-e-barat residents battle outages. Long hour power cut is tormenting Okhla residents just like others in Delhi. Moreover, power cuts are taking place at a time when temperature has soared to record time in the city. Residents of Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar and other areas lamented that they are forced to leave in the dark as power cut has become intermittent.
“Long hour outages in this blazing heat have become unbearable. Even residents with invertors are finding it difficult to beat the heat. Otherwise people are sweating in this summer. The power condition has deteriorated from last year when it was wonderful in the locality,” said T Ziaul Haque, a resident of Shaheen Bagh.
Other residents too lamented about long hour power cut in the locality. A Shaheen Bagh resident said six hours and on days more than that of power cut has become usual in the locality. The power condition has not improved despite Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal warning discoms to make sure to fix power outages in parts of Delhi. Moreover, power demand has also increase and it appears that discoms are struggling to meet peak summer demand this year around.
It would be interesting to show how the power situation is handled in the coming days as temperature has been predicted to soar or remain static in coming days.
