Some school students welcomed Jamia Millia Islamia Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahamd after his return from Hajj. The students, including Mohd Anas, Wasi, Faisal and Imran visited the VC office and offered him flowers.
It was a few days ago when the VC had visited Mecca and Medina on invite of the King of Saudi Arabia to perform Haj. He was accompanied by two other university faculty members. It was last week that he returned to India and was welcomed by university staff at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After that several university staff met him at Nehru Guest House for the Musafa ceremony on Saturday.
The VC was welcomed with some offering him flowers and wished him over Hajj. Those who turned up were handed over gifts like, tasbeeh, dates and caps, brought by the VC from Saudi Arabia. During his stay at Saudi Arabia, some university alumni claimed that they too were with the VC helping him perform the Hajj.
The Hajj this year was talk of social media in the sense that for the first time, the SA Government allowed pilgrims to carry camera. Moreover, for the first time technology played a crucial role with the SA Government deciding to share electronic bracelets among Hajjis so as to keep track on them and avoid any untoward incidents like the one that had rattled many last year.
