In Jamia Nagar, leaders fight elections their own way. If some candidates go door-to-door there are many who invite resident to feast on biryani. And as the election date is coming nearer, candidates cutting across party line in Okhla are using different measures to win hearts and minds.
The case in point is a nukkad natak campaign launched by Sarwar Iqbal Khan, who is JDU candidate from ward number 102S Abul Fazal Enclave. Besides, rallies, marches and campaign through e-rickshaw, Sarwar’s supporters have adopted nukkad natak as a way to connect to voters, said TM Haque, who is part of the backroom team laying strategies to impress upon voters.
A video of the event being performed in Jamia Nagar has been placed on the FB page being run by Sarwar’s supporters in which a few youngsters are seen playing nukkad natak to woo voters.
“As elections days are coming nearer the fight to be in top place is going to get stiff. Our team’s effort is to make sure that we adopt measures so as to stay in the race as other candidates too are increasing their campaign. The nukkad natak is well tested way to grab voters’ attention in the locality and it is something very new here,” said Haque, exuding confidence that his candidate will sail through.
