Sarwar Iqbal Khan ignites new hopes for e-rickshaw pullers in Okhla. He had a meeting with their group to understand their issues. “The meeting was successful and I assured them all help when voted to power. They too promised me my support,” said Khan, who is a candidate in this civic agencies election from Abul Fazal Enclave.
Former Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) leader, Khan is active in Okhla and has decided to take a political plunge in the upcoming civic agencies poll to be held on April 22.
Khan has got a huge support base in the locality is being tipped as a top contender, said his supporter.
Though he is yet to get ticket from any party, Khan and his supporters have started door-to-door campaign to win hearts and minds of voters in the locality. Insiders said Khan’s team consist of educated and professionals who are giving him all support to make sure that an educated person with clean image wins the election to change the fortune of the locality that for years have been left neglected, lacking even basic civic amenities.
The e-rickshaw pullers face several uphill tasks in the locality like they are not allowed to ply their vehicles on Abul Fazal Enclave-Shaheen Bagh road.
