RTI activist house burgled in Zakir Nagar; ‘important papers go missing’

A flat of RTI activist has been burgled today, according to sources. “My house has been burgled today with most of RTI papers are missing. It was around 6 pm when I came to me house and opened the door. It was only when I went inside that I saw papers strewn all over and almirahs in my flat opened. There are two rooms in my flat.

“They took my laptop and papers from different almirahs. It appears that somebody entered from the adjacent gate by breaking the lock. There are many precious items but the robbers didn’t take them. I think they were just looking for some RTI papers,” Md Sharib told OT.COM.

This is not one off incident in the locality. Cases of theft in houses have gone up in the last few years, according to residents. Recently, a resident had filed a complaint in which he mentioned that how somebody took laptop and mobile phone from his room as he had gone to freshen himself after coming from university.

Years ago, flat of another activist Anisur Rahman was burgled in Batla House. Then too, according to him, robbers had made way after taking his laptop and a few other items.
