A protest was taken out in solidarity with Rohingyas in Delhi with many Okhla residents, including some religious organisations, marching at Myanmar Embassy in Chanakyapuri on September 13 peacefully demanding justice for the persecuted Rohingyas in Myanmar.
Syed Azharuddin, national secretary, SIO of India, said several organisations had come together to hold this protest.
It is reported that protesters from various organisations, educationists, sociologists turned up. They dispersed around 4.30 pm after a few speeches and sloganeering, police said, reported Outlook.
Some netizens called the protest a massive one. “Today’s protest in Solidarity with Rohingyas held at Chanakyapuri. Many people from Delhi, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and other parts of the country gathered to express their solidarity for Rohingyas.
“People demanded the immediate stop of Rohingya ethnic cleansing; supported the claim of Rohingya people for their Mayanmar nationality; and opposed any move to deport persecuted Rohingyas from India,” wrote Bazlul Basit Choudhury on his timeline. Also, he did a FB live.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (whose leaders also participated in the rally) also sent their representation to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to change government’s stand on deporting Rohigya refugees from the country and offer them humanitarian assistance instead, reported UNI.
Some Rohingya Muslim refugees reside in Kanchan Kunj close by Kalindi Kunj in Okhla in pathetic state on the land offered to them by Zakat Foundation years ago.
