Robbers prowl Jamia Nagar. A few days ago when Habib returned from his office he saw the doors of his rented flat in Muradi Road opened.
And as he got inside he found his house topsy-turvy. At once he realized that something wrong has gone, but it was too late for him to do anything as thieves after removing the lock of the door of his 3rd floor flat decamped with laptop and other items.
Habib immediately approached the local police station. A forensic team too arrived at the flat but to no avail, said Habib. This is not the only incident in the locality. Residents in Batla House, Abul Fazal Enclave, Shaheen Bagh and other places lamented that theft cases have increased in the locality that many residents are having sleepless night.
“There was robbery in my room just two days ago,” said social activist Aneesur Rahman, adding: “Residents are deeply upset with such increasing theft cases in the locality. The problem is that the cases are not being cracked. Moreover, it appears that it is handiwork of locals who keep an eye on every house and know when you are out and in. Most of the time robbery takes place when you are not around. I am case no major thing was stolen.”
Robbers are targeting not only houses but shops and vehicles too. A few cases of snatching too has been reported from the locality.
