Robbers loot Rs 26.5 lakh worth jewellery from house in Okhla neighbourhood.

A 92-year-old man is the latest victim of robbery in Greater Kailash. Reports pointed out that how two robbers barged into a house, overpowered the senior citizen at knife point and the fled away with Rs 30,000 cash and jewellery worth around Rs 26.5 lakh.

“At about 2 pm, two persons rang the bell of the house and informed Ramchander that Mr Agarwal from Vasant Vihar had sent a bouquet for his employer. When he opened the door, one of the two men pushed him and overpowered him after whipping out a knife,” said Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (southeast district).

The incident took place on Friday afternoon and the retired government officer Khairati Lal Khanna was in the house in N-B lock. It is understood that his domestic help Ramchander was also in the house at the time of robbery. His wife and children live in the US, claimed reports.

“They started beating Khanna when he tried to raise an alarm. The suspects tied Khanna and Ramchander’s hands behind their backs and ransacked the house before fleeing with the cash and jewellery. Police received a call at about 2.25 pm and a team rushed to the spot. The two men were taken to AIIMS Trauma Center, where they are recuperating,” said the officer.
