A newly-built Batla House road by the DMRC was “destroyed” by impatient residents today, according to eyewitnesses.
A resident said many people, including e-rickshaws and bikers, were seen driving on the road whose work is yet to be completed.
“It was really shocking to see e-rickshaws and bikers driving on the road. The plaster was new. There was nobody to stop them from not using the road. Just think a few days ago the road was in bad conditions and we should be thankful to the DMRC for paving the road. But it appears that some residents are least bothered as everybody in their desire to reach home early drove on the newly-built road,” said Noushu Ali.
For years the Batla House road has been left neglected.
But the DMRC started paving the road recently.
The cemented road is being built sturdy with iron roads also being put so as it lasts long.
It is understood that more work is to be done on the road in coming days with traffic to be diverted.
It would be interesting to see whether residents avoid this road or will continue to drive on the road further destroying and weakening the foundation.
Usually, after putting cement on the road, water is sprayed for days and vehicles are not allowed. But this time nothing like this happened.
