‘Rano’ gang of female thieves who targeted marriage functions busted

A notorious gang of gate-crashing female thieves who committed more than 100 thefts from ‘marriage venues’ located in Delhi & NCR etc has been busted by the Crime Branch/ISC, Chanakyapuri.

The well organized gang members who hail from Madhya Pradesh used to sent the booty immediately by sending it to Madhya Pradesh through their sources.

Four gang members including an auto driver have been arrested.

Accused arrested included Satish, Rano, Varsha and Manisha.

The police swung into action after over the past few months, several cases of thefts of valuables were reported from banquet halls, farm houses, etc. in marriage ceremonies.

In some of these cases, the CCTV footage of the cameras covering the functions provided glimpses of the suspects. Since these complaints were being received at regular intervals from posh areas of Delhi, the Crime Team, ISC, Chanakyapuri work out the cases, said police.

The team worked tirelessly in analyzing all available video footages and deployed sources at various prestigious banquet halls, farmhouses etc. to gather intelligence about the presence and movements of the suspects, said the official.

A careful study of the modus operandi of the suspected syndicate also revealed that in all these cases the females committing the theft, took all precautions for not being captured in the CCTVs even though being present at or around the venues. They avoided the cameras and photographers/ videographers.

During interrogation it was disclosed that they are members of a gang belonging to Madhya Pradesh which is notorious for committing theft of valuables, cash etc. from marriage ceremonies while they are solemnized at posh banquet halls and farm houses.
