After reports surfaced in a Middle East daily of Ramzan being held in the region most probably on Saturday, in India many people have started talking about when is the Ramzan 2017 in India?
Aljazeera reported that Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq confirmed that Saturday, May 27, will be the first day of Ramzan 2017. In such a situation, Ramzan is to be held on Sunday in India most probably, according to an Islamic scholar.
An officer bearer of Jamaat-e-Ulema Hind said 90 per cent chances are that Ramzan is to be held on Sunday. However, he said it all depends on sighting of the moon. Right now a meeting is being held of ulemas and office bearers of JEUH at its ITO headquarters. A source said we will be in touch with our members across the country and find out if the moon was sighted.
Moreover, sources said things would be clear in more than 60 minutes. Many people in India had got into preparation mode for Ramzan hoping it to be held on Saturday. In case if its take place on Sunday then fasting will begin from that day.
An Okhla resident said: “Keeping in mind that Ramzan will be held on Saturday I already took off on that day. Now, I came to know that most probably it will be held on Sunday. I was just thinking of breaking my first Iftaar with my family members. It appears that will not happen.”
