If you thought that the dust of the Ramjas College clash between ABVP and AISA has settled then you are wrong. In the real world DU is calm with security being beefed up in the area as ABVP plans to take out a Tiranga rally today, according to reports.
However, a different type of clash is raging on the social media and it all started after Gurmehar Kaur, a student of Delhi’s Lady Sri Ram College, and daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh, posted a message on Facebook on February 22 with a photo of herself.
Holding a placard, she wrote: “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me,” and #studentsagainstABVP. The post was an instant hit with over 3,500 shares. Many students followed suit and made similar posts.
However, reports have surfaced that she is getting rape threat. This is what she told NDTV: “I have been getting a lot of threats on social media. I think it is very scary when people threaten you with violence or with rape.”
The whole issue got new boost after Jamia Millia Islamia and start cricketer Verender Sehwag tweeted a photo of himself holding a placard: “I didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did” and saying “Bat me hai Dum!” along with #BharatJaisiJagahNahi.
His post was cheered by Randeep Hooda, claimed Indiatoday.com report. Following which another debate has started on the twitter with the celebrities facing the heat from some social media users. However, there are many who are supporting him. Another tweet has surfaced of user who pointed out who is handling Jamia alumnus handle.
