As usual rain brought relief from humid weather for Delhiites, but at the same time residents faced hardship with many Okhlaiites claiming to be stuck in traffic jam in other parts of the city as rain lashed the city today.
Residents experiences harrowing time with main roads getting waterlogged. At times they faced long tailbacks not only in Okhla but across Delhi.
A resident, who had gone to shopping in Moolchand, said she got stuck in the jam for more than hour. Besides, many residents find it hard to get auto to commute in the city.
“It was hard time. Autowallas were found a few at Okhla Head. Moreover, many people were seen holding baggage and looking for auto. As it was raining, they were drenched and really begging autowallahs to take them to railway station. Most of them seen unwilling to move and some asked for more than regular money. People were seen stuck for hours in traffic jam,” said Noushu Ali, a resident.
According to reports the city received 59.0 mm rainfall.
Several key stretches that witnessed jam included Moolchand, Modi Mill flyover, Pul Prahladpur underpass, Savitri Cinema flyover, Moti Bagh, Chirag Dilli and Saket.
Major intersections like Ashram Chowk, Britannia Chowk, Kashmere
Gate, ITO, Mukarba Chowk, Mehrauli-Badarpur road, Mehrauli-Gurgaon road also witnessed chock-a-block situation.
