Work for covering open rail underpasses begins

BJP National Secy and Member of Parliament East Delhi, Maheish Girri said plates will be installed to cover the three railway underpasses in East Delhi. This work will be carried out at Shastri Park Pulia, Shahdara Chhota Bazar and Shahdara Vegetable Market.

The Parliamentarian also said local residents of the area had been demanding this for the past few years. These three railway underpasses have gaps between plates with the result thousands of pedestrians and vehicles/ cars that pass under the tracks are exposed to dirt and garbage that falls from the passing trains.

This was a major problem in the area and it affected a large number of people who were using these underpasses. The Member of Parliament added that after he became a MP, case was taken up with the Railway Minister and GM, Railways for covering the tracks of the underpasses.

While thanking the Railway Minster and related department officers, Girri said now 90 per cent of the work for installing plates at Shahdara Chhota Bazaar has been completed.
