As the AgustaWestland issue rages in the Upper House, several posters related to the issue have appeared in Jamia Nagar, a deprived Muslim-dominated locality. Walls in this locality have been pasted with posters carrying photos of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Interestingly, the posters have surfaced overnight. It appears that many posters have been ripped off. However, the posters carry no address. Though pasting posters on walls is illegal but in Jamia Nagar that has its own rule, most of the burning issues are discussed through posters. Moreover, attentions hungry coaching institutes, aspirant political leaders and groups do put posters from time to time to reach out to the people.
“Surprisingly no name is given. It could be the handiwork of Congress supporter. Okhla once was bastion of the Congress before the constituency was grabbed by the AAP in the recently held Assembly elections,” said BJP leader Jawed Iqbal Khan.
Okhla watchers said this is nothing new as leaders, coaching institutes and others flout the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act with impunity without realising the fact that how damage they do to the locality by pasting posters wherever they wish.
During the Assembly elections also many issues were discussed through posters put on walls in the locality.
