Owaisi warriors all ready to hold protest during Kejriwal visit to Okhla

Members of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party are all ready to hold protest against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal , who is to visit Jamia Millia Islamia today to participate in a Mushaira being organised by Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan.

Since the announcement of the Mushaira was made, some activists and AIMIM members have been opposing it tooth and nail. Their said there is nothing wrong in holding the Mushairia, but they have questioned the timing as it has come in the background of several dengue deaths in the locality. Activists claimed that it doesn’t not look good to hold Mushaira when more than 50 people have lost their near and dear one to dengue, the highest in Okhla, a claim that OKHLATIMES.COM was unable to verify independently.

However, the MLA has rubbished such claims, stating that his party did a lot to address the situation by starting fogging and other measures. But activists and AIMIM members are not convinced and said the government failed the resident and should have done more to address the situation. And as the debate had raged, an activist claimed that he was beaten up mercilessly in Shaheen Bagh by AAP members for opposing the Mushaira, a claim the the MLA has denied.

All told, Okhla is tense today as AIMIM and AAP too are getting ready for a showdown of their strength with the MLA too sending messages to residents to come up in large number to make the Mushaira a huge hit. On the other hand AIMIM has already sent a memo to the Delhi CM urging him to announced Rs 1 crore compensation for the people who died of dengue.

Moreover, some of AIMIM members have been sending this message all around in the locality to drum up support.

AIMIM senior leader Irfan Ullah Khan said they would be protesting outside the event venue peacefully, submitting the memo in person and requesting for releasing compensation to family members whose relatives became victim of dengue death.

Khan wrote this on his timeline: “I would like to make an appeal to Delhi Govt with respect to the critical situation of Okhlaiites, The entire region is suffering from the epidemic of dengue and chikungunya, As per locals 75 people have lost their life and forcing many to spend in thousands to save the life of their loved ones. It was expected from the Chief Minister/Health Minister to visit at least once to show their support. Unfortunately, None of the Govt representatives had turn up. In between the Mushaira displays the long list of Ministers including the Chief Minister.

“NGT and supreme court have held the civic bodies and Delhi Govt responsible for the dengue and chikunguniya Epidemic. We are not against the cultural events, but when the entire region is Mourning on the deaths of their loved ones, such programs are like Mocking the local people, It is nothing less than celebrating the loss of Individuals. The Minimum support should have been given to the people, Mushaira will not help to bring back their life to normalcy.

“I request all the Okhlaites to come and join a peaceful protest demanding compensation for the victims, today in front of Jamia Milia Islamia. Lets voice out your pain! At times you need to shout to get your plea heard!”
