Meet Kashif, the only Indian to participate in Summer School in Italy

Kashif Hasan Khan, a Ph.D. Scholar at the Centre for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia attended a five-day long Ph.D. Summer School which was held from 4th – 8th July 2012 in Trento, Italy.

Kashif was the only Indian amongst 35 research scholars from over 20 countries who participated in the summer school, according to JMI media coordinator.

There were intensive lectures on Social Economy, Solidarity Economy and Future of Capitalism. While there, Kashif made a presentation on “How Islamic banking is socially responsible” and can be prove to be an alternative to “crises ridden Capitalism”.

This summer school was conducted by EMES (European Research Network) in collaboration with the niversity of Trento and EURICSE (European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises), and it was held on the campus of University of Trento, Italy, claimed university release.

Kashif has also attended National and International Conferences in India and made International trips to Turkey and Bahrain for conducting Survey on Risk Management in Islamic Banking. He has written several articles on Islamic Banking and Finance for Magazines and Journals.

For his Ph.D. at JMI he is working on “Issues and Challenges of Risk Management in Islamic Financial Industry: A Case Study of Bahrain”.
