Prof Simi Malhotra is back on Jamia campus after more than 2-year hiatus

Professor Simi Malhotra, Adviser, Academics, Media and Culture on deputation to former Lt. Governor of Delhi and former vice-chancellor of JMI, Najeeb Jung, is back on the campus after more than two years hiatus.

Before joining Jung in 2014, who resigned abruptly a few months ago, Professor Simi was Media Co-ordinator at Jamia Millia Islamia and was extremely popular with journalists. Besides teaching English at Jamia’s English department, she was also coordinator of the International Relations and Outreach Programme.

Professor Simi joined Jamia’s English department on December 30.

After doing her BA (English Hons) from Delhi University’s Gargi College, Professor Simi moved to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for her doctoral studies. A major part of her thesis deals with feminism in different eras. “I wanted to find out what people at different times wrote on the subject, their beliefs, how their minds worked and what the women and men were like in different ages,” she said.
