Jamia alumnus recalls Jamia’s BHU moment of 1986

Jamia alumnus recalls day when 2 Jamia Professors he said saved them from cops’ wrath on campus.

A Quint video on BHU violence has been shared by a Jamia Millia Islamia alumnus.

“Professor Pratima Gond reminds me the two teachers from Jamia Millia Islamia: … who did the same and saved a few of us by covering us from policemen and their lathis. They remain with me despite not meeting them for more than 25 years. Love you two and wish you healthy and long life,” wrote Ali Arshad on his timeline.

As OT.COM was unable to verify Arshad’s claim from the two teachers it has decided not to mention their names here.

Many old timers still remember the incident of 1986 when there was a crackdown on Jamia by security forces. As in those days there was no social media it is hard to find about the event online.

This incident which Arshad reported was from 1986, when buses were set on blaze and police entered in the university main campus and arrested more than 100 students from the campus, said an alumnus.

This incident had happened due to death of a fine art student near Holy Family Hospital.

There was a major chaos on the campus, claimed sources.
