The joint team of South-East District has solved a sensational murder case of PS Jamia Nagar in which an Estate Officer of NDMC namely Mohd Moin Khan aged 58 years s/o Mohd Naeem Khan r/oD-13, Noor Nagar Ext., Johri Farm, Jamia Nagar was murdered on the evening of May 16.
It was at about 7:45 pm, a PCR call regarding firing at D-10, Jamia Nagar was received at PS Jamia Nagar, said a police official in a press conference called at its headquarters on Wednesday.
“On receipt of this call, the local police immediately reached the spot and found that a Swift Dezire car with broken window glasses was parked there and victim had been taken to Holy Family Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified… having gunshot injury on his chest. No eye-witness was found present at the spot. Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 440 dated 16.05.16 u/s 302 IPC was registered at PS Jamia Nagar and investigation was taken. It was a sensational and sensitive case since the deceased was an Estate Officer of NDMC and he was murdered outside his house by unknown persons,” said a release issued by police.
“Seeing the gravity of the incident, a joint team consisting of officers, including SHO/Okhla, SHO/Jamia Nagar and other officers was formed…
“During investigation, it was revealed that deceased Khan was taking up a matter of one Ramesh Kakkar, owner of hotel ‘Connaught’, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The hotel was on lease with NDMC and on the direction of High Court of Delhi, deceased had to pass final order in the lease case on May 17.
“Apprehending an unfavourable order, which would have resulted in huge monetary loss and eviction from the property, Kakkar hatched this conspiracy to eliminate Khan.
“From secret sources, credible information was received that Kakkar had tasked somebody to murder Khan before final hearing date. During further investigation, it was revealed that Kakkar was also having a hotel in Greater Kailash area which had closed about 4-5 years ago and at that time…
“As per their plan, the assailants followed the car of deceased on their motorcycle after he left his office and when the deceased reached near his house, one of the assailants broke the window glass of the car and fired on the deceased and escaped.
“Further, with the help of human intelligence and technical surveillance, the whereabouts of accused persons were zeroed in and six accused persons… were arrested from different places.
“All the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation in which they admitted their involvement in commission of the above crime. It was also revealed that accused Kakkar had made a deal of two lakhs with… to execute the murder of deceased and gave Rs 50,000/ as advance money. Rest of the contract money was to be paid after the murder. The contract money of Rs. 49000/- has been recovered. Further investigation is in progress,” said the release.
