Blazing heat fails to take shine off Poetry Darbar. Poetry Darbaar, a monthly poetry soiree held at Epicentre, Gurgaon was held on May 15. Even the scorching sun beating down heavily could not take shine off Poetry Darbaar when poets and poetry lovers in huge numbers from Delhi NCR graced Darbaar and regaled us with their verses.
A table-flute jugalbandi was the icing on the cake and a standup comic act evoked some laughter.
About Poetry Darbaar- Poetry Darbaar, a Harf-Gah venture started in Feb 2016 in Gurgaon, devotedly aspires to create poetry hubs in different cities collaborating with poets of the particular cities to champion the cause of reviving poetry.
This is a budding initiative to indulge in some poetry and art by conducting poetry meets across various cities of our wonderful poets and poetry aficionados.
“We aim to provide a platform for poets and artistes to come out and perform in the presence of a receptive audience without fearing any kind of criticism. What’s more, this also gives an opportunity to our emerging poets to rub shoulders with eminent and established poets which would only encourage them to progress ahead. We have become the most sought after Poetry group in Gurgaon and there is immense buzz whenever our meet is anounced,” said an organiser.
With poetry, the organization also gives opportunities to buddding stand up comedians, singers who sing their own compositions and even Tabla flute jugalbandis.
Taking cues from Gurgaon’s success, we have started Poetry Darbaar in Bhopal followed by Allahabad recently and plan to extend its reach to many places where the culture of art and poetry is missing or nonexistent, said the organiser.
