Phat Phat blues for Okhla residents

It was about 4 pm today when a large number of people were waiting for Phat Phat at Batla House. As there was no Phat Phat on the spot, commuters appeared to be stressed and desperately waiting for arrival of one from the opposite side.

And it was after a few minutes when one arrived. The scene was worth viewing as people rushed to the vehicle little caring about their well being in the crowded Batla House chowk. Everybody was concerned about how to get the seat. In the melee some got the seats others were left stranded.

Activist Firoz Bakht Ahmad, who was also waiting for a vehicle, told OKHLATIMES.COM that at this time there is always a huge rush. And as the vehicle was delayed the numbers of passengers soared on the spot. It was only after a while that the Phat Phat arrived and this time around too it got filled even before other passengers who had come from Jama Masjid could get down.

It was more than 15 years ago when Phat Phat was introduced in Okhla. Then it had brought a sigh of relief to several Old Delhi visitors and over the period of time the crowd in bus no 402 and 403 decreased. A regular Phat Phat user said in those days it was a big relief and many people were saved from the hassle of driving on buses to Old Delhi.

Now with the metro lines being laid it is understood that journey to Old Delhi will be hassle free.
