Pervez arrival at Jamia Nagar police station adds climax to protest

Pervez arrival at Jamia Nagar police station adds climax to protest. Residents picket at Jamia Nagar police station on Sunday against attack on an activist.

The protest rally was taken out from 40 ft road in Shaheen Bagh a few minutes ago. Residents are demanding action against the accused.

Activist Mohammad Pervez was attacked on Thursday in Shaheen Bagh.

Pervez supporters said since he started questioning the decision taken by new dispensation he has been receiving threatening calls to silence him.

The incident has been condemned by Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan.

The MLA, who is in Bangalore in Jamaat, told OKHLATIMES over phone that he has received several complaints from builders against Pervez and after coming to Delhi he will mull over the issue.

However, Pervez rubbished the allegations and said to find out the truth OKHLATIMES should interview other independent builders.

While protesting outside Jamia Nagar police station, Pervez and other activists, including residents, demanded quick arrest of the accused in the case.

Protesters were carrying with them banner seeking to bring an end to goondaism in the locality.

The protest coincided with other protest in the locality in which residents had turned up in large numbers at the police station seeking action against a few youths who were beaten up for misguiding other youths in the locality by telling them that Imam Mahdi has arrived.

“These youth know very little about Islam and are misleading others in the locality by spreading falsehood about Islam. It is important that they should be thrown out of the locality. This is not new as for long this issue has been brewing in the locality,” said a resident at the police station.

A few months ago a man was beaten up for claiming himself to be Imam Mahdi. A local resident had rescued the man from the clutches of angry crowd that then had assembled outside the mosque then.
