The road accident statistics don’t exist in Okhla’s Jamia Nagar. However, on and off several incidents of road accidents have been reported in the locality. And with the area getting overpopulated residents have reported about several road accidents caused due to rash driving.
A case in point is an accident in Abul Fazal Enclave a few days ago. In a complaint, it has been mentioned that 11-year-old boy, a pedestrian, was hit by a four wheelers near thokar number 4 in AFE.
In the complaint, it has been mentioned that the boy after being hit by the vehicle was rushed to a local hospital in AFE where doctors referred him to a trauma centre. A hospital doctor told this portal that a few days ago a boy was brought by unknown locals, who had received serious injuries.
When asked for his parent’s number, the doctor said the boy was brought by unknown people who told us that he was hit by a four wheeler. The exact location of the incident could not be ascertained.
However, this is not the only accident in the area. Residents still remember an incident a year ago when a pedestrian woman was hit by a rouge biker. Her head had hit the divider, said sources, adding that after which she was rushed to a local AFE hospital where she doctors declared her brought dead.
Moreover, a few months ago residents had lamented how a speeding car being driven by a woman had a hit a bus cleaner, a young boy, who died on the spot in Noor Nagar. The event got coverage in the mainstream media with some national dailies covering it. Many residents said one has to be careful while even walking in Okhla these days as they regularly come across bikers and people driving four wheeler driving rashly putting lives of others in peril.
