Another resident of Okhla has died of dengue, according to Syed Hashmi, a resident of Jamia Nagar. He wrote that daughter of one Mustakeem died of dengue at 3:25 am in Apollo Hospital from dengue shock.
“She was 40-year-old and a resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, Thokar number 4. She will be laid to rest at Batla House graveyard after Asar prayer. Mustakeem’s grandson is also suffering from dengue and hospitalized,” he wrote, a claim that OKHLATIMES.COM was unable to verify independently.
Though cases of dengue deaths have come down in the locality of late, residents and activists like Hashmi claimed that more than thirty people have died in the locality due to dengue. However, the government data is less.
Moreover, the locality like Delhi, has seen spike in vector-borne diseases this season with a large number of people complaining of suffering from dengue, chikungunya and high fever. Fayaz Ahmad, who too is down with dengue for the third time, said the beds are still full in local hospitals and it is really a hard to get one despite things improving in the last few days after the government took up massive fogging campaign across the city.
Jamia Nagar, a deprived locality has been the worst hit with three deaths reported due to dengue in one block of AFE.
