Syed Qamar Alam was a worried man after he found a car illegally parked in front of his shop in Abul Fazal Enclave today.
“It was at about 2:30 pm that I turned up to open my shop but could not do as a car was parked just in front of my shop. Despite trying my best I couldn’t squeeze my way to open the shelter. I lost business during this time. It was only after 4 pm that the man returned to drive his car,” said Alam.
Illegal car parking is a big nuisance in the locality as one can witness hundreds of vehicles parked on roadsides. With several eateries opened on roadsides, it has now become a routine to see people parking their car in the middle of road to feast on delicacies, said a resident.
Worse, the mushrooming of workshops on roadsides too has further congested the locality with little space left to move around, leading to traffic snarl even at non-peak hours. Residents lamented that they are fed up with the illegal parking of vehicles on roadsides. They said many residents are forced to park their vehicles on roadsides as builders don’t provide parking facility in flats and some are habitual offenders. Besides, there are many who just to save a few buck prefer parking their vehicles on roadsides rather than ending up to pay parking rent.
